1. Were you able to find places and spaces where you could really listen? Yes, I sat in the lower level of the union in a corner so sounds would come to me from the front only.
2. Was it possible to move without making a sound? No
3. What happened when you plugged your ears, and then unplugged them? I think this wasn't as affective as it could have been, I was sick that day and couldn't hear as well.
4. What types of sounds were you able to hear? Piano playing, Footsteps, keys, talking, atm, elevator doors, normal doors, stairs, me clicking a pen, cell phones, high heels
5. Were you able to differentiate between sounds that had a recognizable source and those sounds you could not place? Of course, the songs I could tell where they were coming from were unplaceable and the ones that I could tell where they were coming from were placeable.
6. Were you able to differentiate human, mechanical, and natural sounds? Yes, I was able to tell which sound came from human, mechanical and natural sounds.
7. Were you able to detect subtleties, changes, or variations in the everpresent drone? Only occasionally, it was hard at first getting accustom to the microphones.
8. Extremely close sounds? Sounds coming from very far away? Yes, Footsteps walking past me and going farther away and an atm behind me.
9. Were you able to intervene in the urban landscape and create your own sounds by knocking on a resonant piece of metal, activating wind chimes, etc.? I did make a car noise for another person to record.
10. Do you feel you have a new understanding or appreciation of the sounds of our contemporary landscape/cityscape? Yes, I didn’t realize so much was actually going on around me.
11. How do you think your soundwalk experience will affect your practice as a media artist, if at all? I'm not sure it really will affect me as an artist we'll see if the rest of the class helps me more.
